Like most books written by Tolkien, The Children Of Hurin is a novel that revolves around men, elves, dark forces, and dwarfs. Based on a series of thrilling events that take place in Middle-earth, this book provides the readers with much-needed information on the key characters in its first few pages. The Silmarillion is the prequel of this book. The story in The Silmarillion focusses on the escape of Morgoth from Valinor, to the north-west region of Middle-earth.
Morgoth has his fortress in a place called Angband, and he now makes every effort to establish his reign over the entire Middle-earth. This results in a war with the elves, who reside in the southern part of Middle-earth. However, the elves manage to avert any war, and retain control over most of their regions. They then seek revenge on Morgoth, who tried to destroy them. Turin and Nienor are two such characters in this story who make no bones about the fact that they are not going to submit to the demands of the evil Morgoth.
This results in Morgoth casting an exceptionally evil curse on the children that would be born of Hurin. Turin changes his name six times in this story and even after that he is unable to flee from the cruel fate that is in store for him in the story. Now, with the Sindar of Beleriand, they wage war on Angband. What follows is a series of action-packed encounters between the rival sides.
