Dilbert 2.0 (20 Years of Dilbert), published in 2008, is a collection of over 6,500 comic strips revolving around the protagonist Dilbert. Dilbert, first published in 1989, takes a satirical approach to office humour. This American comic strip showcases office politics, which obstructs productivity. The workplace is Silicon Valley. Readers are able to relate to situations where employees' skills are not rewarded, and instead busy work is given importance. This mismanagement leads to humourous situations, and makes Dilbert a very popular comic.
Dilbert is published in sixty-five countries, and in twenty-five languages, in two-thousand newspapers around the globe. It has also appeared on the cover of Fortune Magazine several times. Dilbert 2.0 (20 Years of Dilbert) has been compiled to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this comic strip. The book is divided into five parts. Stories of white-collar mismanagement makes this collection a wonderful read. Special strips like those created for Playboy have also been included. In addition to this, a CD-ROM with the entire collection of cartoons, also accompanies the book.
Dilbert has won the Good Taste Award as the best strip of 1996. It also received the Squiddy Awards as well as the Zombie Award in 1996 and 1997 for the best daily strip. In 1997, Dilbert won the best syndicated strip at the Harvey Awards. It was followed by the Max & Moritz Prize the next year. It again won the Squiddy Awards in 1998 and 2000 for the best comic strip of the year.
