These Fitzroy materials have been developed over the last 30 years by Faye Berryman and Phillip O Carroll, the founders of the innovative Fitzroy Community School ( rated by the national NAPLAN 2010 test in literacy into the top one percent). The 70 story booklets use only the words that children are ready to read for themselves. This is why we call them Readers.
Each reader introduces a new sound such as oy, and some new special words such as said or through Available with each set of 10 readers, there is a word skills book of 70 worksheets supporting spelling, basic grammar, comprehension, discussion and creative writing activities.
Each level of the Fitzroy materials also includes an Answer Book. And an Audio CD if needed for pronunciation. Interactive Computer Software is available for the first 40 stories.

Alphabetic Sounds Pack: This is a pair of Audio CDs of the 26 basic letter sounds, with a jolly song to practice each one. The audio is supported by a box of 26 full colour laminated folders (each opening to A4). There are phonically sound pictures and clear signs for the simple printing of each letter. This with extra folders covering contents alphabetical order and clear teacher instructions.
Alphabet Book: This book of worksheets has 50 x A4 pages designed for absolute beginners. The first 5 pages help with the forming of lines and circles. Then there is a page for each letter, help with writing sounding and recognizing. There are many activity pages helping with discrimination, alphabetical order, and forming two-letter words. Leads directly on to the Readers.
Alphabetics Game: This is a word making game using English letters and typical English digraphs. There are two types of activities, one for beginners, and the other for older children and adults.(50 possible levels). The package contains 115 playing cards and several laminated A4 cards showing graded word lists, clear instructions for the teaching activities and rules for the higher table game. This is a double purpose package. It provides a hands-on approach for helping struggling beginners to form words. Meanwhile, the game itself is entertaining for English students and, if played to the higher levels, is highly enjoyable for literate adults.
Teacher's Guide: In response to a great demand, we heave now written a comprehensive Teachers Guide with a full explanation of the Phonic Program for teachers. Lesson plans spelling rules spelling test reader level tests letter and digraph cards reading recovery levels easy to use index method full explained This Guide includes hundred pages of usable teaching aids. The reader level tests help the teacher to assess (a) when a level has been completed or (b) what level students are ready for. The Guide has many useful parts, with pictures, diagrams, tables and lists. This will make implementing the program a simple step-by-step exercise.
