The Sanskrit language which is more perfect than Greek and more copious than other languages has a wonderful struc- ture. The structure of this ancient but living language has been analysed and described by etymologists and grammarians since at least the eighth century B.C. The encient
grammarians traced the basic elements of most of the vocables of the language to verbal roots called dhatu-s, some two thou- sand in numbers. Sanskrit has an elaborate system of conjugation of all the roots in ten tenses and moods; besides each root has its causative, desiderative, frequentative and passive forms. There is a system of con-structing verbal roots from substantives,
which again are conjugatrd in ten tense/mood forms. Therefore, the conjugational system of Sanskirt grammar has a vast dimension, which is perfectly condified by the grammarians. Though the rules of grammar are precise and definitive , it is difficult to know or derive the particular forms of verbs with the help of those rules.
