Caroline Lawrence is an English American author. This series is historical and is set in the year AD 79, in Ostia, part of Rome. The happenings take place during the reign of Emperor Titus. Here Flavia Gemina, daughter of a Roman Sea Captain, embarks on thrilling adventures with her friends Jonathan, Nubia and Lupus. The children go around Ostia, to the harbor, the forum, the lighthouse and the tombs of the dead. Later mysteries take them to Pompeii, Rome, Greece, North Africa, Egypt, Turkey and finally back to Ostia and Rome.
The first book of the series, 'The Thieves of Ostia', was published in the year 2001, culminating with the last book, 'The Man from Pomegranate Street' in 2009. The series has also been adapted as a television show.
